A threaded flange is a type of flange that does not require welding. It features pipe threads on the inner hole of the flange, allowing it to connect with threaded pipes. Threaded flanges offer the advantage of easy installation and maintenance, making them suitable for pipelines where on-site welding is not permitted. In cases where alloy steel flanges are difficult to weld or have poor welding performance, threaded flanges can be a viable alternative. However, it is not recommended to use threaded flanges in situations with sharp temperature fluctuations or extreme temperatures above 260 °C or below -45 °C, as this may lead to potential leakage.

Slip-on pipe flanges and threaded pipe flanges share some similarities, but they differ in one crucial aspect. While slip-on flanges have a straight bore, threaded pipe flanges feature tapered threads within their bore. This distinction makes threaded pipe flanges suitable for use with pipes that possess external threads.
One notable advantage of threaded pipe flanges is that they can be attached without the need for welding. This makes them highly convenient and time-saving. Consequently, threaded pipe flanges are commonly employed in situations that require connecting small-diameter pipes under high pressure conditions.
In contrast, slip-on pipe flanges with a hub come with specific specifications that outline their range. These specifications typically span from 1/2″ to 24″. These slip-on flanges provide a practical solution for joining pipes of varying sizes securely.
Overall, both slip-on and threaded pipe flanges serve essential roles in various industrial applications. Understanding their unique characteristics allows for selecting the most appropriate type of flange for specific pipe connections.

Threaded pipe flanges come equipped with various facings, including flat face, raised face, and RTJ. The standard height for a raised face in threaded pipe flanges below 400# is 1/16". However, for threaded pipe flanges of 400# and above, the standard height increases to 1/4". These specifications ensure that threaded pipe flanges are capable of performing their intended function effectively. It is important to choose the appropriate threaded pipe flange facing and height based on the application and system requirements to ensure optimal performance and safety.
