Technical Parameters

The usage of threaded flanges has been diversified in several industries including pipe connection, metal production, water treatment, heat exchangers, and boilers. However, casting flanges that contain defects, such as sand inclusions and air holes, should not be utilized for high-pressure flanges. To ensure that its functions and values in production and usage remain optimum, it is essential to take necessary precautions.
The flange's outer side has a low temperature that results in lesser impact due to welding heat input, leading to better rigidity and minimal shrinkage. However, the flange section gets twisted, causing a significant turnover of the flange surface, and the central axis of the bolt hole is no longer parallel to the cylinder's axis. Proper measures must be taken to prevent such occurrences and ensure the optimum efficiency of threaded flanges.

The blind flange, which is known as Test Flange, features a central NPT Threaded hole.

Special fittings such as NPT tapped holes and custom threads are incorporated into flanges to allow for the attachment of pressure testing equipment. Blind flanges, on the other hand, are designed to cap the ends of pipes, valves, or pressure vessel openings. Due to their location at the system's endpoints, blind flanges experience some of the highest levels of stress in flange systems.

ASTM/ASME SA-105, A-350 LF-2, LF-3, A694, and SA-516-70 are the different types of carbon steel. These materials are commonly used in various industries due to their excellent mechanical properties and high tensile strength. The designation SA-105 refers to carbon steel forged fittings, while A-350 LF-2 and LF-3 are low-temperature carbon steels suitable for cryogenic applications. A694 is a high-yield carbon steel used for forged flanges, fittings, valves, and other pressure-containing parts. Lastly, SA-516-70 is a normalized carbon steel plate widely used in the construction of pressure vessels and boilers. These carbon steels demonstrate exceptional weldability and durability, making them a preferred choice in several industrial applications.

Alloy materials are widely used in various industries for their exceptional properties. Among the many alloys available, chrome alloys are particularly popular for their corrosion resistance, high-temperature resistance, and overall strength. Chrome alloys come in various grades, including A-182-F-1, F-5, F-6, F-7, F-9, F-11, F-12, F-22, and F-51.
Each grade of chrome alloy has its unique composition and properties, making them suitable for different applications. For instance, F-1 is a low-alloy steel suitable for use in piping systems, while F-5 is a higher strength steel used in pressure vessel components. F-6 is a martensitic alloy with excellent corrosion resistance and suitable for use in valves and pumps.
F-7 is a high-strength low-alloy steel used in high-pressure gas and oil lines, while F-9 is an alloy with improved welding characteristics used in power plant piping and heat exchangers. F-11 is a ferritic alloy with excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and suitable for use in petrochemical and chemical plants.
F-12 is a martensitic alloy with excellent creep resistance and high-temperature strength, making it ideal for use in furnace components. F-22 is a low-alloy steel with excellent strength and corrosion resistance and used in various industrial applications. Finally, F-51 is a duplex stainless steel used in offshore oil and gas production.
In conclusion, chrome alloys are versatile materials with a wide range of grades to suit various applications. Whether you need high-strength, high-temperature, or corrosion-resistant alloys, there is a chrome alloy grade to meet your needs.
