Technical Parameters

A butt welding flange is a type of fitting that serves as a connection between two pipes. Also known as a split flange, it features a neck and a round pipe transition, which allows for a butt welding connection with the pipe. A flange is a component that attaches two pipes and is affixed to the end of a pipe. The flange has holes, with bolts being used to connect the two flanges together. Collectively, the butt welding flange, its gaskets, and fasteners make up what is known as a flange joint. A flange joint is an essential part of equipment and equipment components, as well as an integral component of pipeline design, pipe fittings, and valves.

Application scope of butt welding flange

A material that possesses both rigidity and elasticity requirements, has excellent sealing capabilities, and is highly resistant to deformation is widely employed across multiple industries. Its butt welding process entails a rational thinning transition that results in a sizeable gap between joints, thereby avoiding temperature deformations post-welding. The material's complex bell structure renders it perfect for high-pressure, high-temperature, and low-temperature pipelines with significant pressure or temperature swings. Its primary use lies in joining pipes and valves with PN > 2.5MPa, and it's an ideal choice for carrying expensive, flammable, and explosive media.

Use of butt welding flange

Flanges serve as vital components in pipe connections, facilitating the installation of various pipes. Depending on the specific requirements, different flanges are utilized. For low-pressure pipes, threaded connection flanges are ideal, while butt welding flanges are suitable for higher pressures exceeding 4 kg. The junction between two flanges is reinforced by adding gaskets and securing them with bolts. The choice of bolts primarily depends on the thickness of the flanges, taking into account the different pressure levels. When it comes to linking pumps and valves with pipelines, these equipment components are also designed in corresponding flange shapes to ensure a secure connection. This type of connection is commonly referred to as flange connection. Generally, any connecting part that involves bolted closure outside of two planes is considered a flange. For example, the connection between a ventilation duct can be referred to as a "flange part." However, it would be inaccurate to label the water pump as a "flange part" when it is connected to a flange because it is merely a single component of the overall equipment. On the other hand, smaller components like valves can be accurately termed as "flange parts."

To ensure proper identification, butt welding flanges must have markings indicating their nominal diameter, nominal pressure, sealing surface form code, designated steel pipe series code (with metric pipes designated as "series 2" and unspecified British pipes), and standard number. This way, users can easily determine the appropriate fit and application for each flange. It is important to adhere to these marking requirements in order to maintain safety and efficiency in industrial processes.

Butt welding flanges play a vital role in various industries due to their different production specifications. These specifications ensure the practical value and effectiveness of butt welding flanges in their respective applications.
The production and performance specifications of butt welding flanges are categorized into several standards, including national standards, American standards, Japanese standards, German standards, and Italian standards. Additionally, the Ministry of Chemical Industry and the Ministry of Machinery and Pressure Vessels also provide specific specifications for these flanges.
High-pressure butt welding flanges are widely used in diverse industries such as boilers, pressure vessels, petroleum, chemical industry, shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, machinery, and food. Their large-scale application demonstrates their importance and reliability in these sectors.
By complying with the corresponding specifications, the butt welding flanges ensure optimal performance and meet the required standards in each industry. These flanges enable efficient and reliable connections, contributing to the overall safety and functionality of various equipment and systems in different industrial settings.
